STATEMENT
In my work I’m interested in interaction as it relates to vulnerability, contact, and agency. These pieces articulate concerns of contingency -- the space of maybe -- in material and form. My practice is process based, autobiographical, and investigates the sensory and emotional experience of shared space: our evolving relationships with our own bodies as well as the interpersonal, the tension of what is tangible and intangible in our interactions, and a reconciliation with our incompleteness of understanding.
BIOGRAPHY
I earned an MFA in visual art from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a BA in fine art from Smith College. I was awarded a Kahn Foundation Fellowship in interdisciplinary studies in 2006 and a Schultz Foundation Grant for biology research in 2003. I have been invited as resident artist to Studios@MASS MoCA, Azule, Horned Dorset Colony, and Turkey Land Cove Foundation, and hold active memberships with Zea Mays Printmaking Studio and College Art Association. My work has been exhibited internationally, most notably in several shows across the UK and at Manhattan Graphics Center.
