STATEMENT
I’m interested in interaction as it relates to vulnerability, contact, and agency. These pieces articulate concerns of contingency -- the space of maybe -- in material and form. My practice is process based, autobiographical, and investigates the sensory and emotional experience of shared space: our evolving relationships with our own bodies as well as the interpersonal, the tension of what is tangible and intangible in our interactions, and a reconciliation with our incompleteness of understanding.
BIOGRAPHY
Hannah holds an MFA in visual art from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a BA in fine art from Smith College. Their work has been exhibited internationally, most notably in several shows across the UK and at Manhattan Graphics Center. They were awarded a Kahn Foundation Fellowship in interdisciplinary studies in 2006 and a Schultz Foundation Grant for biology research in 2003, have been a resident artist at Studios@MASS MoCA, Azule, Horned Dorset Colony, Turkey Land Cove Foundation, and most recently at Hewnoaks and Hektor Lanzarote. They hold active memberships with Zea Mays Printmaking Studio and College Art Association and currently work in the culture kitchen (credit to Maria Rosario Jackson) of the Mead Art Museum at Amherst College as Manager of Education, mentoring Student Museum Educators and facilitating museum programs with pre-K through adults to co-create knowledge through community collaboration and creative problem solving.
